Representation of Youth - 1950s: Rebel without a Cause & 1980s: The Breakfast Club

Similarities:
  • Always blaming the parents
  • Trouble makers
  • Sorting out their own problems
  • Problems at home
  • The parents are always portrayed the same as the children
  • Theres always a bit of romance 
Differences:
1950s:
  • Theres physical violence such as Knife Crime
  • More physical danger
  • Clean living - no alcohol or drugs but theres always milk
  • Need parents to sort themselves out
  • without nobody you end up dead but with parents you end up loved.
1980:
  • No physical violence
  • a lot of alcohol and drugs 
  • crime involving guns knifes ext
  • alcohol and drugs are more commonly used
  • peer pressure
  • more frustration and anger involved 
  • need parents involved
